Sassy City Chicks in Miami

A few weeks ago, I attended Sassy City Chicks Miami. an event focused on fashion and beauty. I met up with the ladies from Wasabi Fashion Kult and Remix’d. Many local designers had tables featuring their creations. My favorites were : Dena Venable and Arm Candy.

The Sassy City Chicks swag bag was pretty amazing, it had a bunch of discount cards, a travel size bottle of John Frieda’s Dream Curls Spray and a full size tub of Miss Jessie’s Super Sweetback treatment a curly hair care treatment for growing out naturally curly hair. I am in love with this stuff, it makes my hair soft, shiny and smelling delicious.

The event also featured Godiva creamy liqueurs, and Vitamin Water. Upstairs they had beauty vendors; they gave mani-pedis, make up sessions, and massages to guests.

Healthy, Shiny. Sexy, Bouncy Hair

All of us dream of glowing and healthy hair but it is not very easy to have and maintain shining and healthy hair.
Too much or too little of a particular vitamin can contribute to thinning of the hair, brittleness, baldness, and hair and scalp dryness. However, the right amount of certain B vitamins, as well as vitamins A C, and E will give you the hair you’ve always wanted. Your hair will be more radiant, thicker and stronger.

Healthy hair and skin says a lot about how healthy you are, and it makes or breaks a first impression. A little something ladies might find interesting is that one of the primary features on a woman that men find attractive is a healthy, flowing head of hair. So take good care of yours; feed it the vitamins and nutrients that make your hair come alive.

B Vitamins – The B vitamins are probably the best vitamin sources for healthy hair. This includes pantothenic acid (B5), pyridoxine (B6), biotin (B7), folate (B9) and vitamin B12. All of these vitamins are water soluble, meaning they are easily absorbed by the body and are easily eliminated during urination. So you will need to constantly feed your body with these vitamins in order to capture and keep their effects for your hair’s vitality.

Other important vitamins and minerals include B complex, which is associated with energy production and building good hair and skin issues, folic acid, B12, and zinc.

When choosing hair products, I highly suggest going as natural as possible. I have traded all the popular stuff from the beauty store for the natural stuff at the health store.

Some Products I have tried and recommend:

Energizer Treatment Shampoo– This shampoo is amazing, I mix is with a couple drops of  Jojoba oil since it is “super-concentrated”. It penetrates deeply into the hair follicles to destroy harmful dirt and oil build-up and emulsify layers of sebum from the scalp. You can find it online at : www.folica,com

Jojoba Oil – read about the benefits of Jojoba Oil

This can all be found at any Vitamin/Health Store like a GNC or Vitamin Shoppe

Hair Feather Fashion and Happiness

My favorite trend of 2011 has to be Hair Feathers. When I first saw them, I have to admit I didn’t know what to think, but after my bff convinced me to have some put in, it only took about 30 seconds for me to fall in love with them! Hair Feathers are a great way to show off your creativity and express yourself.

Here’s a pic of me and my cousin, I have in a grizzly and a pure indigo XL. ( that you can see, lol)

I get all my feathers from my friends at HairFeather.com, they carry all professional grade rooster feathers. They have lasted me forever; some of my feathers have lasted me since August! I love playing around with my feathers, switching them out and mixing up color combos. My favorite style feathers are the “grizzlies”. The extensions last a while, depending on how your hair grows and how the clip is installed, I have washed, blow dried, ironed, and even curled my feathers. Now they also have Clip-in feathers that you can switch out and take off whenever you want. They are great if you don’t want to have your feathers in 24/7, but I still favor the extensions because you have more options on how you want your  feathers and if you have a kit you can take them out in 2 minutes if you need to.
